Friends,

Today is a sacred and somber day. It's important that we all remember and
reflect on the price that many have paid so that we can live in freedom.

Since the founding of our nation, so many brave men and women from Wyoming
and across America and their families have made the ultimate sacrifice to
defend our country's freedom. It’s what makes this the greatest republic in our
history, but it is also what casts a solemn shadow over this holiday.

We owe the men and women who have died serving our country a debt of
gratitude that can never be repaid. We have an obligation to honor their
sacrifice by committing to protecting the freedom that they gave their lives to
defend.

Today, we honor them with our thoughts, words, and actions, and vow to never
forget how lucky we are that so many brave Americans were willing to lay down
their lives so that the greatness of America can endure. Memorial Day gives us
the opportunity to acknowledge that those individuals are our truest and most
courageous heroes, and I hope everyone spends a few minutes recognizing that.
