We're bringing them out in full force this summer.

Friend,

Every Memorial Day, we remember those who've sacrificed their lives for us, including my father, Capt. Artie Pfefer. He died serving in Vietnam when I was an infant. I am sure you can see the resemblance.

A young man, Captain Artie Pfefer, Dean Phillips' birth father, seated at a table with glasses, bowls, and other serving ware in front of him.

My father was one of hundreds of thousands of courageous men and women who gave their lives so that present and future generations could enjoy America's promise of freedom and opportunity. Those servicemembers include people of all backgrounds – and yes, Democrats, Republicans, and independents – united by their love of country.

It's an honor to serve the nation to which my father gave his life. This Memorial Day, let's remember what united our fallen heroes, honor their legacy, and commit to making good on the promise of America, this beacon of freedom and hope.

Wishing you a meaningful Memorial Day,

Dean
