IRC REPUBLICAN PARTY CHAIRMAN

Our struggle to keep our conservative values continues to be undermined by companies that we don’t even realize are engaged in the politics of exposing kids to the liberal agenda. State Farm apparently partnered with the “GenderCool Project” to produce LGBTQ+ books targeting Florida Children ages 5 years old and up. I thought we just went through this with Disney about not sexualizing our children. This week not only did I not go to any Disney parks or subscribe to Disney services, but I also dropped my State Farm policy saying I don’t want to do business with woke companies. Although, local agents are anything but woke, the leadership that allows this - is. A simple apology does not suffice. The books have shipped, and State Farm leadership will simply find another way to use your premium payments to fund the Left’s agenda. Until our businesses disengage and root out their woke leadership, it is up to us to send a message that we will not patronize businesses that use our money to fund the Left’s agenda. In war we do not buy bullets for our enemy, and in this political fight we will not fund our enemy’s advances on our children.

This weekend we gather as freedom loving Americans to celebrate Memorial Day, a day to REMEMBER and HONOR those who have sacrificed so much while serving in the military fighting to preserve our way of life.
Freedom of Speech, a tenet of our First Amendment is fundamental to our basic freedoms. The Second Amendment, the right to keep and bear arms is necessary to protect the First. As a Constitutional Republic we must protect these and all of our rights. Our military has defended these rights on both foreign lands and within our own shores.
We are forever GRATEFUL for their sacrifice, especially for those who made the ultimate sacrifice, and gave their lives.

This week, Governor Ron DeSantis announced the June 1 launch of the Florida Hometown Heroes Housing Program to help Floridians in over 50 critical professions purchase their first home. The Hometown Heroes Housing Program will be available to Floridians including law enforcement officers, firefighters, educators, healthcare professionals, childcare employees, and active military or veterans. Including this $100 million program, the Governor also announced his intent to support the total of nearly $363 million appropriated for affordable and workforce housing in the 2022-2023 budget, the highest total in 15 years.
The program is administered by the Florida Housing and Finance Corporation (Florida Housing) and has the highest and most inclusive eligibility of all Florida Housing down payment assistance programs. The program is geared to expanding on Florida’s existing housing programs to reach critical workers and those who have served our country. Find more about the program here.
“In Florida, we value the contributions of our police, firefighters, teachers, and nurses,” said Governor Ron DeSantis. “Our hometown heroes are the backbone of Florida communities and making sure that they can afford to be homeowners is a great way to give back to them and support the future of the American Dream.”
“Florida Housing is extremely grateful to those who have remained committed to serving their communities, especially during these challenging financial times,” said Trey Price, Executive Director of Florida Housing Finance Corporation. “Hometown Heroes will provide the financial assistance necessary to help these hardworking individuals finally achieve the American Dream of homeownership, and we look forward to the positive impacts this accomplishment will have on so many Florida families.”
Florida Housing received $100 million from the state Legislature this year to establish and administer the Florida Hometown Heroes Housing Program. This program will aid essential community workers in 50 different eligible professions with down payment and closing cost assistance to help first-time, income-qualified homebuyers purchase a primary residence in the communities they serve. Funds will be available to reserve starting June 1, which coincides with National Homeownership Month. This occasion celebrates the value that owning a home brings to families, communities, and neighborhoods across America.
To qualify for this program, homebuyers must connect with a participating loan officer, have a minimum credit score of 640, provide certification for one of the eligible occupations, and meet the income threshold for their county. Eligible borrowers will receive up to 5% of the first mortgage loan amount (up to a maximum of $25,000) in down payment and closing cost assistance in the form of a 0%, non-amortizing, 30-year deferred second mortgage.
GOVERNOR RON DESANTIS
TIME Magazine Names DeSantis in Top 100 Most Influential People
Governor Ron DeSantis is a prominent individual in the GOP. Now, his rising star status is being recognized. Governor DeSantis has been named one of TIME Magazine's, "most influential people."
The list is compiled of the top 100 people in the world for the year 2022. Other individuals who share this honor with the governor are Podcast giant Joe Rogan, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, and Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson.
Categories within the Times' list include artists, innovators, titans, leaders, icons, and pioneers.
For DeSantis' feature on the list, former-Governor Jeb Bush wrote some flattering words about DeSantis and why he deserves this honor:
"During the pandemic, most people stayed home, and those who didn’t probably moved to Florida. Despite relentless criticism, Governor Ron DeSantis kept schools open, ensured Florida’s economy remained open for business, and allowed individuals to determine their own risk tolerance. His approach works," said Jeb Bush.
Bush added that "it’s one that has allowed Florida to emerge from the pandemic as a national model of personal freedom, economic growth, environmental protection, and education excellence. Florida continues to see record population growth, unemployment remains below the national average, the private sector is growing, and Florida remains a national leader in school choice. On top of that, DeSantis has demonstrated his environmental credentials with major investments to restore America’s Everglades, preserve and expand wildlife corridors, and protect Florida’s precious waterways."
The former governor summarized, "While the Beltway crowd may not like his style, it’s his record that will become his legacy."
No WHO for Florida
Governor Ron DeSantis made it clear on Tuesday that our state would not go along with a President Joe Biden decision to defer to the World Health Organization on policies regarding future pandemics.
“You saw a lot of these elites advocate very pernicious policies…part of the reason people want to move here is because we rejected those policies, but they advocated very pernicious policies, including locking kids out of school,” he continued.
“We in Florida, there is no way we will ever support this W.H.O. thing. That’s not going to happen. No way,” DeSantis said when he heard about the plan.
DeSantis Signs Property Insurance, Condo Reform Bills
Friday, Governor Ron DeSantis signed bipartisan legislation implementing the most significant and comprehensive property insurance reforms Florida has seen in decades to provide short- and long-term relief to Floridians to combat skyrocketing insurance costs. A one pager on the insurance reforms can be found here.
Additionally, Governor DeSantis signed legislation which modifies structural inspection and financial reserve requirements for condominium associations.
“This package represents the most significant reforms to Florida’s homeowners’ insurance market in a generation,” said Governor Ron DeSantis. “These bills will help stabilize a problematic market, help Floridians harden their homes through the My Safe Florida Home Program, and pave the way for more choices for homeowners.”
“I’m grateful that Governor DeSantis called lawmakers to convene this week to pass legislation that will help rein in insurance rates, provide premium savings to Floridians, and aid in hardening homes against storms,” said Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis. “I remain committed to fighting insurance fraud and bolstering our investigative services to further support our efforts to protect consumers.”
Senate Bill 2B, signed by the Governor DeSantis, enacts pro-consumer measures to help alleviate rising insurance costs, increases insurance claim transparency, and cracks down on frivolous lawsuits which drive up costs for all Floridians. Specific provisions to stabilize the market include:
- $2 billion in reinsurance relief through the Reinsurance to Assist Policy (RAP) program to benefit policyholders over the next two years.
- Requires insurance companies to file a supplemental rate filing once enrolled in the program to provide relief to policyholders.
- $150 million for the My Safe Florida Home Program to provide grants to Florida homeowners for hurricane retrofitting, making homes safer and more resistant to hurricane damage, which can result in premium discounts for those who participate in the program.
- Prohibiting insurance companies from denying coverage solely based on the age of a roof if the roof is less than 15 years old or if the roof is determined to have at least 5 years of useful life remaining.
- Requiring insurance companies to provide policyholders with a reasonable explanation if they deny or partially deny a claim and provides consumers with greater access to information during the claim adjustment process.
- Creating a new standard for application of attorney fee multipliers which have been liberally applied, resulting in increased costs to consumers.
- Limiting the assignment of attorney’s fees in property insurance cases, disincentivizing frivolous claims.
Senate Bill 4B, also signed, includes reforms to increase the safety of condominiums.
- Requiring inspections for all condominiums and cooperative buildings that are three stories or higher.
- Buildings within three miles of the coast, Phase 1 inspections must occur 25 years after initial occupancy and every 10 years after.
- For all other buildings, Phase 1 inspections must occur 30 years after initial occupancy and every 10 years after.
- If a Phase 1 inspection reveals substantial structural deterioration, a more intensive Phase 2 inspection is required.
- Requiring condominiums and cooperatives to conduct structural integrity reserve studies for buildings three stories or higher to ensure the funding necessary for future structural repairs is available and prohibits waiver of funding for certain structural reserves.
- Increasing transparency by requiring all structural inspections reports and reserve studies to be part of the associations’ official record and must be provided to potential purchasers of a unit.

LG Nuñez Hosts Roundtable to Fight Human and Drug Trafficking
Because the federal government refuses to enforce federal law at the border, Florida law enforcement must pick up the slack, the main topic of a roundtable led by Lieutenant Governor Jeanette Nuñez. By proactively blocking human traffickers and drug smugglers, Florida is seeing success.
For instance, in 2021, the Florida Highway Patrol alone seized:
- 9,750 pounds of marijuana
- 115 pounds of cocaine
- 20 pounds of heroin
- 250 pounds of methamphetamine
- $4.4 million in U.S. currency
- $118.8 million in contraband
- 272 weapons
- These seizures resulted in 1,168 persons arrested and 2,308 felony charges.
“Unfortunately, we are in a position where we have to step up our efforts even more because politicians in D.C. and in some poorly-led states would rather leave these criminals on the street instead of putting them in prison, where they belong,” Lieutenant Governor Nuñez said.

ATTORNEY GENERAL ASHLEY MOODY
AG Issues 2022 Hurricane Preparedness Guide
The 2022 Atlantic Hurricane Season is just days away, officially beginning June 1. Last year saw 21 named storms develop, including seven hurricanes, marking the third most active season on record. Experts are predicting another active hurricane season this year, with as many as 3-6 major hurricanes.
The good news is, there is still time to prepare. This week, the Attorney General released a 2022 Hurricane Preparedness Guide. The guide is full of information about major storm events, tips for creating a household emergency plan and resources for spotting scams that could arise before, during and in the aftermath of a disaster.
Below are some important hurricane preparedness tips from the guide:
-
Know evacuation routes and shelter locations.
-
Stock up on enough food, water and emergency supplies for you, your family and pets for at least seven days.
-
Verify that storm-related products are hurricane-proof or impact-proof before purchasing.
- If you suspect price gouging during a declared state of emergency, report it to the AG's office.
There are three ways to report price gouging. You can use the No Scam app, call 1(866) 9NO-SCAM or file a complaint online at MyFloridaLegal.com.

Attorney General Moody Secures More Than $20 Million Judgment and a Lifetime Industry Ban Against Deceptive Moving Businesses
Attorney General Ashley Moody obtained a lifetime ban and a final judgment of more than $20 million against a wide-ranging, deceptive moving scheme. Ohad Guzi owned eight Florida moving companies, mainly operated under the following company names: All USA Van Lines Inc., Moving Group, Inc., Top Movers, Inc., Guzi’s Investments, LLC, Cross Country Movers, LLC, 24/7 Moving Services, Inc. and Emoving Company.
The defendants falsely advertised the companies as professional, cross-country moving services performed by well-trained employees in company-owned trucks, when in fact, untrained contractors using rented box trucks provided the moving services, and the delivery services were outsourced to third parties unknown to the consumer. The defendants guaranteed prices to consumers, only to then drastically raise prices on moving day after loading possessions onto trucks. Consumers often had to wait many weeks past the promised delivery date to receive belongings. To further the scheme, the businesses used many fictitious names that appeared deceptively similar to widely known national moving companies. Guzi personally used at least six different aliases.
Attorney General Ashley Moody said, “This wide-ranging, deceptive moving scheme victimized people all over the United States, including many here in Florida, by adding excessive charges to the quoted price, advertising professional moving services that the movers did not provide, falsely promising secure handling of household goods and hiding bad reviews by using a variety of misleading company names. I am grateful to my Consumer Protection team for putting a stop to these outrageous practices and holding moving companies accountable.” More.
Attorney General Moody Announces Multistate Action Against Ford Motor Company Resulting in More Than $19 Million for States
Attorney General Ashley Moody announced a multistate action that secures $19.2 million from Ford Motor Company. This announcement follows a multistate investigation alleging that Ford falsely advertised the real-world fuel economy of C-Max hybrid vehicles, model years 2013 and 2014, and the payload capacity of Super Duty pickup trucks for model years 2011 through 2014.
Attorney General Ashley Moody said, “People do a lot of research before purchasing a vehicle. They should be able to trust the information companies use to market cars and trucks before making such an expensive commitment. Through this multistate action, we are helping bring transparency to this process and recovering nearly $20 million. Additionally, Floridians harmed by the alleged deceptive marketing practices received compensation.” More.
Following Calls by Attorney General Moody and Other State AGs, the FCC Takes Action to Stop Foreign Robocalls
Following calls by Attorney General Ashley Moody and other state Attorneys General, the Federal Communications Commission is taking action to decrease illicit, foreign robocalls. In January, Attorney General Moody urged the FCC to implement new measures that will help prevent foreign-based illegal robocalls used to scam Americans. The FCC will require companies that transmit phone calls originating in foreign countries to U.S. public telephone networks, called gateway providers, to comply with STIR/SHAKEN, a protocol intended to combat caller ID spoofing. The FCC also declared that by June 30, certain small carriers previously afforded an exception must implement STIR/SHAKEN.
Attorney General Ashley Moody said, “The best way to stop scams associated with robocalls is to block the avenues some telemarketers use to send fraudulent automated messages. By working with the FCC, we are gaining ground in our fight to protect Floridians by ensuring carriers utilize the latest technology to try and keep foreign actors from bombarding phones with illegal robocall messages." SENATOR MARCO RUBIO
Leading Fight Against Forced Vaccinations
Senator Marco Rubio is standing up against forced vaccinations with the introduction of the Defending Freedom of Conscience for Cadets and Midshipmen Act.
- The U.S. Air Force Academy recently announced that unvaccinated graduates would not be commissioned.
- Military graduates who are not commissioned could be forced to repay tuition and room and board expenses for their time at the Academy.
- Senator Rubio’s Defending Freedom of Conscience for Cadets and Midshipmen Act would prevent military graduates from being punished for their choice to not receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
It is outrageous to punish young men and women who want nothing more than to serve their nation,” Rubio said. “These are the types of ridiculous, unnecessarily punitive measures that discourage patriotic Americans from joining the military.”

INVESTORS TARGET WOKE CORPORATIONS
A group of conservative investors plans to take on four of the “wokest” corporations at upcoming shareholder meetings over allegedly discriminatory policies in an effort to defend shareholders, according to a press release.
The Free Enterprise Project of the National Center for Public Policy Research, a Boardroom Initiative (BI) coalition member, will make proposals at Walmart, Twitter, Facebook, and Comcast shareholder meetings held over the next two weeks to hire outside firms to investigate whether or not the companies are placing merit behind “equity” considerations, according to the release.
“Our purpose is simple – to hold corporate America accountable so they can focus exclusively on delivering value to shareholders instead of virtue-signaling to left-wing activists,” Brad Anderson, chairman of the Boardroom Initiative, said in the release.
“There are millions of Americans, including many retirees living on fixed incomes, who depend on their 401k income and are facing record inflation. They deserve a voice, and we will be their voice.”
The group launched a “racial equity audit” proposal at a Bank of America shareholder meeting on April 26, 2022, alleging the bank had been sponsoring and “promoting overtly … discriminatory employee-training programs.”
“If the Company is, in the name of racial equity, diversity and inclusion, committing illegal discrimination against employees deemed ‘non-diverse,’ then the Company will suffer in myriad ways – all of them both unforgivable and avoidable,” it claimed in the April 26 proposal.
BI launched in April 2022 as a project of the Free Enterprise Project, 2nd Vote, and the Legal Action Fund of the Job Creators Network. Anderson, a former CEO of Best Buy and Ed Rensi, a former CEO of McDonald’s, are the organization’s co-chairmen, according to its website.
Unity - We must do it!
As we approach the 2022 mid-term elections and the 2024 presidential election, and in light of the abject failure of the Biden administration, we know that the very survival of our republic depends on the outcome of those elections. Therefore, we must stay unified. Never lose sight of who our political opponents are… the progressive left Democrats who are taking our country off a cliff with the active help of Big Tech and the old-line national news media. Our fellow Republicans are not the enemy!
