Hello,

Today, I join all Americans in honoring the service members who have made the ultimate sacrifice to keep us safe, secure, and free.

These fallen service members are examples of the essence of what it means to be an American — to be willing to give your life for the cause of freedom and for those who you have never met simply because they are part of this democracy too.

I know that today, many of us are remembering friends, family, or fellow service members who gave their lives to protect our freedom. We owe each and every one of them an enormous debt, and we bear the responsibility of honoring their sacrifice today and every day.

We can honor that sacrifice by supporting the families and communities they leave behind, and ensuring that our surviving service members have the infrastructure and care they need both in service and when they return to civilian life.

I hope that you'll join me and take a moment today to think about the Americans who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.
