Friend,

Today on Memorial Day, we remember the thousands of Americans who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our nation. We can never give them the limitless thanks that they have earned for their bravery, but we can honor them and what they died for.

After 27 years of dedicated service as a police officer, I know what it's like to put on a uniform each morning – ready to risk your life because you took an oath to protect and serve your community. So I know that the work our service members do each day is tough work. It's brave work. And it's work that results in a lot of sleepless nights and sacrifices – not only them, but for their loved ones at home as well.

My heart is with the families of these fallen heroes, whose courage and devotion is worthy of our deepest appreciation. We are forever grateful.

From me and my family to you and yours, I hope you have a safe and meaningful Memorial Day.
