This week, as grief enveloped the nation, we yet again saw elected officials claim that “now is not a time for politics”. We could not disagree more.

Now is EXACTLY the time for politics.

Right now, in the middle of a heated election season, is exactly when we should be taking a hard look at who is representing us and whether or not they care about keeping our children safe. We may be an organization focused on IDs but what is the point of fighting for identification, for shelter, for housing, and for dignity if we can’t even ensure that elementary school students can make it safely through a school day. Or that Americans can safely visit a mall, or house of worship, or see a movie.

We have to stand up and say something and, fortunately, the candidates we are representing believe that guns have no place in school and that elected officials should do more than offer thoughts and prayers.
 

This holiday weekend is a time to reflect, to grieve, and to figure out how we are going to save our country. The last end of the month deadline before the California election is rapidly approaching.

Now is the time to make sure that the right people are elected, the people who will do more than make excuses when our children’s lives are at stake.
