John –
On this Memorial Day, please join me in pausing to reflect on who this day is really about – and how much we owe them and their loved ones.
Today, we remember and honor the servicemembers who gave their lives to protect our country and safeguard our freedoms. Their sacrifice and bravery allow us to live freely. Today, let us all step back and remember what binds us as a country. Despite our many differences, we all are bound by the fundamental beliefs at the core of our nation: the unalienable rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. These core values are what unite us. These principles are what so many of our fellow Americans have fought and died to protect.
The best way to honor our fallen heroes is to remember their lives and offer support to our Gold Star families and the loved ones left behind. I will continue to use my office to ensure our government meets its obligations to those still serving, to veterans, and their families – here in Connecticut’s Fifth District and across the country.
John, as we spend Memorial Day with our families and friends, please take the time to reflect on the meaning of this day and remember our fallen servicemembers.
