Dear John, We hope to see you at tomorrow's urgent, Partywide meeting. Yes, it's Tuesday night, May 31st, at 8:00 PM Eastern, 7:00 Central and 5:00 Pacific. All clubs, districts and members are invited wherever you are. Our working class and people are faced with multiple challenges and dangers. Every democratic right won through struggle over the course of our country’s history is under attack by extreme right forces, including the right to vote, and the right to abortion. And make no mistake, they have their site on the midterm elections. Simultaneously, domestic terrorism and violence continue to rise, from Buffalo to Uvalde. War is raging, from Yemen to Ukraine. In working-class communities across the United States, racist police murder continues. Evictions and prices are rising, and poverty wages remain the norm. And then there is the people’s response. Workers are organizing their workplaces. Working class and democratic people's forces have marched to defend abortion rights. The Communist Party is needed, and we need to be in the mix — in a bold and militant way! Join us on Tuesday as we discuss our reponse to the crisis. On June 18th, we'll be gathering in Washington, D.C. for the Poor People's March, where we hope to have the largest CPUSA/PW/YCL contingent in recent memory — already some 250 people are expected to march with us, and we're aiming for more! November will also soon be upon us, and primary elections are already underway. For two years, the extreme right and their collaborators have held the US Senate in gridlock, blocking much needed progressive reforms and funds for people’s needs. To break the blockade, we're going to have to use all the tools in the tool box, particularly elections, to fight back. Everything is at stake, including life on planet earth. Some are arguing that elections are passé — we say that there is no other road to socialism other than by means of the battle for democracy. We've got to get in the mix!
