For 50 years, Roe v. Wade has protected a woman’s constitutional right to an abortion. But earlier this month, POLITICO reported that the Supreme Court is planning to overturn Roe.

Today, I think about my grandmother, who grew up before women had the right to vote. I think about my mother, who served on the board of her local Planned Parenthood and watched from the frontlines as Roe v. Wade became law.

I think about the generations of women who came before me to secure these fundamental rights, and the generations that will come after. And while this news is devastating, I know one thing is for sure: we cannot go backward.

The time to act is now. We must save Roe v. Wade and protect the right to an abortion.

Now more than ever, we need to protect and expand our Senate majority, and elect pro-choice Democrats everywhere we can.
