John,
In fewer than two weeks, people across the United States have witnessed two horrific, heartbreaking mass shootings that killed 31 people, and impacted the lives of countless others.
The shootings took place in an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, and a grocery store in Buffalo, New York. Sadly for our nation, this isn’t anything new as there are more mass shootings than there are days in the year.
What’s so infuriating about this is that the vast majority of Americans support common-sense measures like an assault weapons ban, but Republicans continue to block it.
We cannot allow a few obstructionist politicians in Washington to keep us from taking action. Write to your members of Congress right now to tell them to do everything they can to BAN assault weapons.
The reality is that from 1994 to 2004 when we had an assault weapons ban, mass shootings fell by over 40 percent.
Every day that Congress doesn’t get these dangerous weapons off of the streets is another day more lives are lost to seemingly endless mass shootings.
It’s past time for Congress to do their damn jobs and protect the lives of our children and loved ones. Now is the time to build public pressure for action.
Demand Congress finally take action on gun violence by passing an assault weapons ban NOW >>
Thanks for always being with us on this critical issue,
- Amanda
