Tuesday’s deadline matters because we are just days away from the June 7th primary and the support we have and the decisions we make in these final days will determine the success of our campaign.

Running for Congress isn’t easy. But nothing that matters is. My mom brought me to America not knowing English, without an education, and without the right immigration status – becoming an American citizen, and being the first member of my family to graduate from college wasn’t easy either.

But now, as Mayor of Long Beach, I’ve worked to launch programs like tuition-free community college and implement an aggressive climate action plan to end the city’s reliance on fossil fuels while protecting and expanding good-paying jobs.

That why I’m running for Congress, because we need to create opportunities for others to succeed so that every kid – and every family – has a real shot at opportunity.

And since we aren’t taking a dime of corporate PAC or special interest money, it’s especially important that I have the support of people like you. So with this deadline fast approaching, I’m humbly asking:

Can you please make a contribution of any amount to our campaign before this May fundraising deadline comes to a close? I would not ask if it were not so important.
