SNL got one thing right: Tulsi is a soldier, unafraid to call out establishment cronies and mouthpieces — from Kamala Harris to Hillary Clinton to the corporate media — for being complicit in decades of costly regime change wars that have cost us thousands of lives and trillions of dollars.

But having the strength and courage to time and time again speak truth to power, in the face of smear campaigns and media blackouts, comes from a deep place of love and aloha for our country and its people. A respect for every single American, and how we choose to exercise our freedoms and rights.

It’s this love — the most powerful force in the universe — that drove Tulsi to put on the uniform after our country was attacked. The same kind of love that motivates a mother to run into a burning building to save her child. The true meaning of a patriot: love for and devotion to one’s country.
