Friends —

We have a pretty important fundraising deadline coming up, but we need to take a pause for a moment to ask you to do something meaningful to help protect veterans exposed to toxic burn pits.

For years, burn pits were used to dispose of trash collected on base. It is exactly as it sounds: a pit where the rubbish was burned.

Unfortunately, that included items that created dangerous smoke when used. And as a result, a number of veterans have fallen ill with maladies related to the exposure.

Congress is now considering a bill that would grant disability services and benefits for veterans exposed to burn pits in Iraq and Afghanistan — benefits that have routinely been denied previously.

And before that vote happens, we are asking for you to support it:

Can you please sign VoteVets’ petition calling on Congress to pass legislation boosting health care benefits and services for veterans exposed to burn pits?
