A PERSONAL NOTE
Good morning! I hope this Memorial Day weekend is bright and sunny for you, and please remember it's not just about cookouts. Take a moment and have some gratitude for the veterans who have given the ultimate sacrifice.
I wanted to share some pictures of my patio garden. If you are also a city dweller, you might be reading all of our garden posts and feeling like you can't produce your own food. I think the trick to growing food at your apartment is to make it look decorative, at least from the outside.
It's important to note that I certainly cannot grow all my own food on a tiny patio. But I can supplement my groceries with fresh, organic veggies and herbs during our long Southern growing season. If I do things right, I'll
be harvesting at least some veggies for 5-6 months out of the year.
Here's what I'm growing:
Tomatoes Purple bell peppers Jalapenos Peas Bush beans Radishes Yellow squash Basil Oregano Cilantro Sage Thyme Mint
Every bite you produce is a bite you don't have to buy.
WHAT I'VE BEEN READING, WATCHING, AND LISTENING TO THIS WEEK
Like the rest of the country, I'm heartbroken by the accounts of the shooting in Uvalde, Texas this week. I cannot even fathom the pain of the families of those who were in the school. I'm furious about the
terrible response of the police, who seemed to exert more effort tasing and pepper-spraying desperate parents than getting in the room and ending the shooting. If ever you wanted a case study of why we need guns of our own, this is it. You simply cannot depend on anyone else to protect yourself and your family. I have total respect for the Border Patrol officers who ignored the orders of the local police, went in, and saved lives.
Join the Survival Preppers tonight when they livestream their conversation about martial law and self-defense. The chat is a great place to connect with like-minded preppers! Go here to set your reminder.
How are YOU carving out little pieces
of freedom for yourself and your family in the months and years ahead?
One of the best ways to celebrate Memorial Day is by planting seeds that will secure your food supply and help ground
you in reality, in a world that struggles to understand BOTH. This family seed business will help! It's the only place where I buy seeds.
