Prince George’s County Young Democrats (PGCYD) Sign Historic Deal with Democratic Central Committee on Voting Rights

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Largo, MD - Tuesday, July 16, 2019 the Prince George’s County Young Democrats (PGCYD) signed an historic agreement with the Prince George’s County Democratic Central Committee to seat two voting members (a male and a female) is on the twenty-six member governing body. With the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) the current two non-voting PGCYD representatives, will be elevated to voting members. The campaign to give PGCYD voting representation has been ongoing for over a decade.

Following Tuesday’s signing ceremony President Phylicia Henry released the following statement:

“PGCYD has a long and proud history supporting the Prince George’s County Democratic Party. This agreement acknowledges that history and moves us forward towards building one countywide Party committed to doing one thing, electing Democrats to public office. This MOU also ensures that as PGCYD continues work with the Prince George’s County Democratic Central Committee to defend our majority in the House of Representatives, flip control of the US Senate, and take back the White House in 2020 - we will have a voice and not just a seat at the table.

I want to thank Chairman Landis for her commitment to teamwork and partnership that saw this agreement come forward. I want to also thank her Vice Chair Thunder Williams for his leadership and stewardship. Finally, I want to thank the members of the Prince George’s County Democratic Central Committee for placing their trust in PGCYD. My commitment as President is to ensure we live up to it.”
