# [#] John, voting is the cornerstone of our democracy. Uplifting diverse voices and perspectives to shape the policies which define our future make us stronger, and moves us forward.
However, in last week’s primary election, voter turnout across Philadelphia was only 23.14%.
That is why I am working so hard right now on Council to advance my Civics Agenda to increase voter participation, create more trust in the electoral process, and strengthen democracy in our city.
The Civics Agenda is a package of bills aimed at increasing voter participation through the following measures:
*
Strengthening
the
city’s
conflict
of
interest
laws
*
Expanding
protections
for
whistleblowers
who
file
complaints
with
or
seek
advice
from
the
Board
of
Ethics
*
Creating
a
public
financing
program
for
city
elections
*
Establishing
the
Inspector
General
as
an
independent,
permanent
office
And that’s just the start — our democracy is strongest when all perspectives are heard and valued, and now I need your help advancing this agenda in Philadelphia.
Let’s step up together to strengthen our democracy and uplift everyone’s voice. Sign my petition today to support my Civics Agenda and help me increase voter participation in Philly→ [[link removed]]
