John,
Here’s a shocking fact: “forever chemicals” from non-stick pans and other non-stick products are in your body right now — and your liver could be suffering because of it.
In the scientific community, this class of forever chemicals are called PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances), and they’re significantly more common than you may imagine.
PFAS can be found everywhere: in non-stick cookware, fast food wrappers, furniture, paper wrappers, carpets, and rugs. The most well-known member of the PFAS chemical family is Teflon.
Research studies calculate that 99 percent of Americans have PFAS in their blood. But, even worse, the studies show PFAS are responsible for wide-ranging health issues, a connection the medical community has been investigating for years.
A new systematic scientific review strongly suggests a connection between PFAS and liver disease.
Because scientists cannot experiment with PFAS on humans directly, they do not know for sure the link to liver disease. However, the existing body of evidence from laboratory experiments with rats indicates a high probability of a connection.
Because PFAS have become so widespread that it is incredibly hard for the average consumer to be able to avoid them all on their own, SEEC member Rep. Debbie Dingell and her SEEC colleagues are building support to regulate PFAS chemical pollution and label them as “hazardous” under federal law.
That, in turn, would give the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) the authorization to take action against these chemicals, such as by cleaning up contaminated water utilities and wastewater treatment sites across the country, where significant PFAS pollution occurs.
John, SEEC members recognize the deadly danger of PFAS to every American. They’re fighting every day to protect and restore clean water and to ensure our healthy and safety from dangerous chemicals. Can you pitch in with a donation to show your support for their work? [[link removed]]

Thanks to your help in 2020, SEEC PAC was able to re-elect over 95% of our pro-environment members to the U.S. House of Representatives — defying the odds on a night where Democrats lost seats. Now we are counting on you to help our SEEC members pass climate, clean energy and environmental justice policies in the 117th Congress while we undo the damage of the Trump Administration.
