To stay profitable, Big Oil companies have long relied on taxpayer
subsidies and elected officials who enable them to pollute our
environment.

In a recent congressional hearing meant to hold Big Oil CEO’s accountable
for the skyrocketing price of gas, 10 of the 19 members who sat on the
committee responsible for the hearing had received campaign contributions
from companies like Exxon, Shell, and BP America. Of the $383,000 that Big
Oil has given to these committee members, 97% of the money went to
Republicans.

Katie is proud to reject all money from Big Oil–both from their PACs and
their executives.

How campaigns are funded really matters. A 2020 analysis found a
correlation between fossil fuel industry campaign contributions and
anti-environment votes taken by legislators.

The oil and gas industry has already spent more than $34 million on
lobbying this year alone. They’re continuing to do everything they can to
stand in the way of Democrats’ plans to protect our environment, while
price gouging Americans at the pump and putting profits ahead of the
planet.

This is why we need to keep Katie in Congress. She’s fiercely standing up
to Big Oil companies, and even introduced a bill to prevent them from
price gouging consumers. As one of just six members who rejects all
lobbyist money, she’ll never be swayed by Big Oil’s political power.
Conservative super PACs and dark money groups are already targeting Katie
