PLANNED PARENTHOOD
** Content warning: this message addresses gun violence **

Again, our hearts have been shattered — by the unspeakable horror of the school shooting in Uvalde, by the shooting at Irvine Taiwanese Presbyterian Church in Orange County, and by the white supremacist murders in Buffalo, NY.

Again, our communities are struggling to manage overwhelming grief, loss, and pain. And again, in the wake of yet another tragedy, we hear calls for change echoing across the country.

As reproductive justice leaders in our movement have taught us, there is no reproductive freedom without the ability to raise children in safe and healthy environments, free of violence. As we face an existential crisis in abortion access, we know our fights for freedom and justice are deeply interconnected.

It is not enough to grieve. We must act. Please join Planned Parenthood in supporting these organizations fighting for families and communities affected by gun violence:

As a community-based health care provider, Planned Parenthood recognizes that gun violence is a public health crisis. We are deeply inspired by our supporters — young people, and people from Black, Latino, Indigenous, and AAPI communities who continue to bear the brunt of insidious gun violence — who are mobilizing the nation around gun violence prevention. And we support the gun-violence prevention organizations that have been leading this work for years.

We must call on policymakers to act with courage and urgency to keep our communities safe from gun violence.

In the meantime, we will share the burden of sorrow with our communities and with each other. We will hold our loved ones extra close. We will do all that we can to support families and survivors in Uvalde, Orange County, and Buffalo.

The Planned Parenthood community is anchored in compassion and empathy. Thank you for all that you do, and please know that our hearts are with you.

In Solidarity,
