Friends,

Yesterday, I wrote and delivered a letter to House Democratic leadership demanding we act on gun violence prevention.

I’m thankful to Rep. Kelly and Rep. Larson for working with me on this effort, and I’m proud to have 134 members of the House speaking clearly and together on the urgency of this issue.

Next month will mark the 6th anniversary since many of my colleagues and I staged a sit-in on the House floor to protest the GOP majority’s inaction on gun violence. Since that day, over 240,000 more Americans have lost their lives.

The American people gave us the majority so that we would act. The House has an obligation to continue to put forward vitally needed gun violence prevention legislation.

We must do our part and put pressure on the Senate to send these bills to President Biden’s desk so he can sign them. The price of inaction is simply too high.

These horrible mass shootings don’t happen nearly as frequently in other countries. There are commonsense, proven solutions we can pass into law to save lives: banning assault weapons, closing loopholes, implementing extreme risk protection orders, and more.

It’s past time to act, and I won’t stop sounding the alarm until action is taken.

Sincerely,

David
