Texas House Republicans managed to sideline one dirty trickster for the 2020 elections, but that doesn’t mean they’ve cleaned house.

With Dennis Bonnen out of the picture, Republicans have started a new PAC - and they’ve turned to Karl Rove to protect their majority.

We all know Rove’s track record here in Texas, but just to refresh y’all, Rove:

• Told bald-faced lies about Ann Richards in order to win an election
• Bugged his own office and tried to frame Democrats
• Went to the FBI and tried to tie a Democratic agriculture commissioner to bribery and corruption charges
• Elected George W. Bush, Rick Perry, John Cornyn, and a whole rogue’s gallery of extremist and incompetent conservatives to high office here in Texas

Republicans brought Rove in for two reasons: the first is that they’re scared about their majority, especially in key districts in the Dallas and Houston suburbs.

The second is that Republicans are desperate to keep Democrats away from redistricting in 2021. They want to create the same gerrymandered districts they were able to get away with in 2003 and 2011 - and silence the growing majority of Texans who are sick of the extreme, partisan circus the GOP has become.
