In just a moment, I’m going to ask you to make a donation toward our end-of-month goal. But first, I hope you will give me a minute to explain why your contribution is so important at this time.

The past few months in Washington have been incredibly busy.

I’ve been working tirelessly to try pass anti-gun violence legislation. I’ve tried every path available — from negotiating with the White House to attempting to force a vote on the Senate floor.

And of course, impeachment hearings have been dominating the news, and they rightfully deserve our full attention. Every day we seem to learn more about the scale of Donald Trump’s bribery scheme. This is a defining moment for our country as our democracy is tested.

It is my duty to give these serious issues my full attention. This is the kind of work you expect me to do, and nothing could be more important.

But it means I’ve simply had no time to focus on our campaign’s modest fundraising goals, and those are important too. These goals are how we help our Democratic candidates flip the Senate in 2020 and organize around the issues that matter most. That’s why I need to ask:
