John,
The runoff election results in Texas are trickling in.
And while all eyes have been on Texas’ 28th district — where progressive challenger Jessica Cisneros faces a third showdown with incumbent Rep. Henry Cuellar — another nail-biting election in Texas’ 15th district is unfolding.
Michelle Vallejo, the pueblo's candidate for South Texas, has taken a razor-thin lead over her out-of-touch opponent Ruben Ramirez. With only 23 votes separating the candidates, the race for Texas’ 15th congressional district remains too close to call and we’re gearing up for a recount, if needed.
Billionaire-funded super PACs spent a fortune funding high-dollar ads against Michelle — and it’s beyond question that big money interests will spare no effort trying to defeat her.
The stark reality is that unless automatically triggered, recounts are awfully expensive. It costs money to contact voters who need to correct an issue with their ballots, pay ballooning legal fees, and more.
The results are clear though: El Pueblo showed up for Michelle — but there are still ballots left to be counted, and even more if the race heads into a recount. So we’re asking: can you chip in to help to power a likely recount effort, and ensure every ballot is accounted for?
