Welcome to Friday, May 27th, nations...

Congress is grappling with the next steps for gun control after the mass shooting in Uvalde, Texas.

Democrats in the House and Senate are weighing their next steps on gun control legislation after 19 students and two teachers ([link removed]) were killed during a mass shooting at an elementary school.

While there is an opportunity for bipartisan legislation, finding a proposal that satisfies enough senators on both sides of the aisle to reach or exceed the 60-vote threshold will be a challenge.

On Friday, three days after the shooting, the National Rifle Association began its annual convention in Houston. Former President Donald Trump, Texas Senator Ted Cruz, and a slew of other Republican lawmakers spoke at the event. In a pre-recorded message, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott told attendees that no law could have prevented the "evil gunman" from murdering children.
