Friend,

The Minnesota legislative session has ended. While there are many areas left unresolved due to Republicans’ unwillingness to continue negotiating, I’m proud of the work that we did accomplish.
As you may know, I chair the House Human Services Finance & Policy Committee, and we were able to pass legislation by the May 23rd deadline to make needed changes related to scope of practice, child welfare and child protection, behavioral health, services for people with disabilities and vulnerable adults, child care, and others. This builds on the bipartisan work we accomplished last year to invest in public health and food security, expand affordable healthcare coverage, and improve Minnesotans’ access to prescription drugs.

This type of bipartisan progress is only possible with hard work. We can’t change that Republicans are choosing to walk away from the table, but we can look toward a better future, together. You can help me build that better future right now. I’m running for Congress here in Minnesota’s 8th district – and we’re facing our first major monthly fundraising deadline of the campaign.

I hope you’ll give me an opportunity to explain why your financial investment means so much in this critical moment. We’re aiming to raise $15,000 from grassroots supporters like you by the time the clock strikes midnight on the 31st – and here’s why: [[link removed]]

This district is historically competitive. And while this race may be flying under the radar of national pundits, we know that if we can flip this district back to blue Democrats will almost certainly keep control of the U.S. House! After all, this district has been held by a Democrat for 70 of the last 76 years!

Our Republican opponent, Congressman Pete Stauber, thinks he can coast by in this election. But he doesn’t know what’s coming from us – a wave of grassroots supporters who are fed up with his inaction and failure to lead in Congress.

Our district is VAST – it stretches all the way from just north of the cities to the Canadian border, and diverse communities across this district deserve a representative in Washington who will fight for our shared values. But all Pete Stauber has done since taking office is be a rubber stamp for Kevin McCarthy and oppose legislation that would benefit Minnesota families.

In fact, Stauber voted against a stimulus package that gave crucial relief to our communities throughout COVID-19. And recently, he voted against efforts to combat the baby formula shortage so many families are facing.

I’ll be a tireless advocate for our shared values in Congress, and I’ll be laser focused on making life better for the communities that are being left behind. But we need to reach our May fundraising goal to show Stauber and the GOP that our campaign means business. That’s why I’m humbly asking for you to make a donation right away to help us reach our $15,000 goal: [[link removed]]
