Honoring Wyoming's Armed Forces |
As we
head into the Memorial Day Weekend, a time in which we honor the countless men and women who gave their lives in service to our country, Democrats in
Washington attempted to ram through legislation that falsely alleges a takeover of our uniformed services and law enforcement agencies by white
supremacists and neo-Nazis. Our brave men and women in uniform deserve
our respect and gratitude, not a slap in the face by alleging that they have been taken over by extreme terrorism. I voted against the Domestic
Terrorism Prevention Act not only because it insults our law enforcement officers, but because it would do nothing to stop real threats against our
country. Worse still, it would force our own government agencies to analyze and monitor the activities of American citizens.
We should be passing legislation to applaud and honor our service members, not forcing them to
monitor their own members while accusing them of being terrorists at the same time. It’s shameful Senate Democrats put this bill on the floor
this week. I will continue to fight for those who put their lives on the line to protect the people across Wyoming everyday.

Legislative Actions:
- I cosigned a letter to
Chairwoman Patty Murray (D-WA) and Ranking Member Roy Blunt (R-MO) of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services to
support the continuation of funding for rural healthcare.
- This letter highlights 12 different opportunities to fund and support rural
health care, which will impact Wyoming directly and support health care for our citizens.
- I cosigned a letter to the Interior Appropriations
Subcommittee asking for the continuation of the sage grouse listing prohibition in the 2023 budget.
- A federal listing of sage grouse
under the Endangered Species Act (ESA) would be devastating to Wyoming’s energy and agriculture industries as it would impact our ability to
effectively use the land in our state.
Committee
Hearings:
Committee on Environment and Public Works (EPW)
- I questioned President Biden’s nominee to be the Assistant
Administrator for the Office of Air and Radiation at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Joseph Goffman about the impact of regional haze rules
on rural states. To watch the hearing, click here.
Major Votes:
- Senate Joint Resolution 46 – A resolution of disapproval of the Biden administration’s proposed
updates to the asylum process.
- Supported
- Here in Wyoming, one of the top issues people approach me about is President Biden’s disastrous handling of
the crisis at our southern border. This is just another attempt by this administration to chip away at any tools we have to secure our
border.
- Motion to Proceed to H.R.350, Domestic Terrorism Prevention Act of
2022
- Opposed
- Federal law
enforcement officers across Wyoming put themselves in harms’ way each and every day to serve their communities. This bill casts doubt on the
motivations of those officers, while also forcing them to monitor the activities of Americans. This is shameful.

My staff is monitoring the national baby formula shortage. I signed on to the Access to
Baby Formula Act introduced by U.S. Senator John Boozman (R-AR), which gives the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) the authority to waive
certain requirements so that families can continue to purchase safe infant formula. This legislation passed in the House and Senate and awaits the
President’s signature. Media: I wrote an op-ed for the Washington Times about the necessity of reliable rural air service for Wyoming
communities. Read more here.

Casper Star Tribune
Despite a predominantly cold, wet spring, the Snake River basin remains in a drought, and federal
water managers plan to use nearly all water stored in nearby reservoirs this summer to meet demand.
The release from Jackson Lake Dam into the Snake River could reach 2,500 cubic feet per second, a
little higher than expected, if summer is hot and dry. And by late September, the Jackson Lake and Palisades reservoirs will be drained to 2 to 10% of
capacity, leaving many boat ramps out of the water.
