Earlier this morning, just a couple hours away from the Ross Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, the NRA kicked off its annual convention.

It starts with what they call a “wall of guns” where attendees can win one of dozens of weapons on display.

Donald Trump is speaking.

Wayne LaPierre will speak, as well.

And if history is any guide, they are going to continue to peddle the fantasy that all we need to make our communities safer from gun violence is… guns everywhere.

That is their vision for America — a country where everyone is armed to the teeth at all times, no training necessary, and no permit required.

But it’s not just Donald Trump and Wayne LaPierre:

Daniel Defense, the manufacturer of the weapon used in Uvalde earlier this week has a large presence at the convention. They host an exhibit and are sponsors of two large events, including one with a former member of the now-defunct NRA TV.

We share this to say that Donald Trump, Wayne LaPierre, Daniel Defense and the 636 exhibitors selling weapons, ammunition, tactical gear and more at the convention will do everything they can to stop Gavin Newsom from signing legislation that will make our California communities safer from gun violence.

They will try to derail our bills.

They will try to beat Democrats at the ballot box.

But if we stand together and make our voices heard, they cannot win. Not in California. But we have to ask:

Can you please make a contribution to Gavin Newsom’s re-election campaign to help us continue to fight for commonsense gun laws that will make our communities safer?
