The country is grieving for the Uvalde community, particularly the loved ones of the 21 victims who died senselessly at the hands of a lone gunman this week. I myself have had a very hard time thinking about anything else as I dwell on how a country as great as ours allows this to happen over and over again.
Every day, gun violence devastates communities across the country. It threatens Americans in places where we should all feel safe, including elementary schools.
I’m begging my colleagues in Congress to unite for stronger gun safety measures to end gun violence. If we don't, we will continue to have weeks like this one, when we mourn children and teachers and neighbors who should still be with us.
Today, I’m asking you to take action by supporting three organizations devoted to ending gun violence. Will you split a contribution between Everytown for Gun Safety, March for Our Lives, and Giffords? [[link removed]]
I’ve voted time and time again for legislation aimed at preventing gun violence – and I’ll continue to fight and to convince my colleagues to do the right thing.
I’m proud to be a Moms Demand Gun Sense Candidate, and I stand ready to pass stricter background checks, ban bump stocks, high-capacity magazines, ghost guns, and weapons of war that have no place in our communities.
There are no words for what those Uvalde families are experiencing this week, and the best way we can stand with them is by taking action.
Thank you,
Scott
