Also Tuesday, Cassy Garcia (TX-28) won her primary runoff and is officially on the November ballot. The GOP is working to flip this seat, which will be crucial to taking back the House. Read more about her victory here.

Wednesday, Rep. Beth Van Duyne (TX-24) and other GOP leaders responded to the tragedy that took place at Uvalde Texas elementary school, where a gunman killed 19 children and two teachers. The nation keeps the lives of those lost in our thoughts and prayers during this unimaginable time. 

Thursday, Sen. Joni Ernst (IA) introduced a new bill that would allow border states to obtain unused materials to construct a border wall. The BUILD IT Act would allow the materials to be used by states like Arizona and Texas to construct their own barriers along the nation’s southern border. Michelle Steel, R-Calif., said that the soaring gas prices are hurting middle and low-income families in her state and called for a gas tax suspension to help alleviate the pain at the pump. 

KIMT 3: U.S. Representative Hinson visits with North Iowa voters. The 2nd Congressional District in Iowa is being redrawn due to redistricting, with Cerro Gordo County among several counties being added. 1st District incumbent Ashley Hinson (R-Marion) is hoping to keep her seat, and met with voters in Mason City.
