These three women are dedicated Hillsborough County community leaders who deserve re-election and Ruth’s List is proud to support their campaigns.
Mariella Smith has been a community advocate for decades, is highly recognized for her accomplishments and has earned numerous awards including the Citizens Planning Advocacy Award, the Hillsborough County Planning Commission Chairman’s Award, and the Black Bear Award from the Sierra Club Tampa Bay.
Kimberly Overman has a long history of public and community service in Hillsborough County, including advocating for equitable access to transportation, economic growth, and affordable housing. Her experience as a successful business owner in Hillsborough gives her unique insight into policy solutions to improve the lives of her fellow citizens.
Karen Perez was the first Puerto Rican woman elected to a countywide seat in the Tampa Bay area, and remains the only Hispanic member of the school board. She is a true advocate for our children on the board, working diligently to hold the administration accountable and ensure Hillsborough’s limited resources go directly to the classroom.
