Here are some of the exciting efforts we're currently engaged in. You can become involved with any of them by attending any meeting on our events calendar or joining the chapter's slack:
-
The Labor Committee is supporting local Starbucks workers unionizing. Come on out to our next meeting June 4 at 10 am to get plugged in! (labor)
The Electoral Committee is currently supporting two candidates for State House: Elisabeth Epps
& Javier Mabrey and is also revamping the chapter's candidate endorsement process. We are seeking member feedback - reach out to Andrew T on slack (electoral)
The Housing Justice Committee is focusing on the NEWR campaign. Current needs are volunteers for weekly phone banks, social media content, endorsement conversations & canvassing! Sign up here! [email protected]
-
The Palestine Working Group invites you to its next meeting on June 9th at 6pm (event calendar)
-
The Socialist Feminist Working Group is having a Books & Brunch reading group meeting this Saturday at 11am. There are only two free articles (#1) & (#2) to read before attending, all are encouraged to join!
-
The Abolition Working Group hosts city council watch parties every Monday via discord
- Our book club is discussing Miriame Kaba's We Do This 'Til We Free Us. A few copies are still available. The next discussion is on June 5th (Pgs 104-129). Do not worry if you missed the first couple of meetings, we would love to have you any time you can attend! We have spare books available as well.
- Please reach out to the abolition working group on Slack or at [email protected] if you’re interested in working with us!
A final note in response to the horrific tragedy that just occurred in Uvalde, TX: There is likely going to be a community-wide response in Denver. We have begun discussing how the chapter might 1) provide support to the victims and their families, 2) consider what kind of direct actions we might take in Denver, and 3) work with other local organizations to effect change on the material conditions & underlying issues to prevent this from happening over and over again. We must change our society into one that doesn't allow for this to happen, just like many other countries have.
You can get involved with these various efforts by joining the Slack (here's how to do that!) - or attending any meeting on our events calendar, which is open to all regardless of dues.
Click here to view our event calendar - it has just about everything.
In solidarity 🌹

This text is important too, it's just quiet and at the bottom. The Democratic Socialists of America is 100% member-funded, and the Denver chapter is no exception. If you like the work we're doing, please consider donating directly to the chapter so we have the financial means to keep doing it! While we receive quarterly dues shares from National, your direct donation to Denver DSA gets money into organizers’ hands quicker. Give us socialist cash to beat capitalist trash! https://denverdsa.org/donate
