This makes me sick, friend: It's been two days since a mass shooting at an elementary school left 19 families each mourning the loss of a child – and the GOP is likely already planning to block any legislation that would provide meaningful change.

It's not enough to just offer these grieving families our "thoughts and prayers." I grew up in the church, and let me tell you this: Faith without works is dead. It's time for Congress to take immediate action and save lives from gun violence. 

There's one major obstacle in our way: The GOP has used the filibuster to block our Democratic agenda in the Senate for years – and there’s no doubt in my mind that Republicans are willing to use it again to stop our gun safety reform bill from becoming law.

That's why I'm calling on you to take immediate action because we can’t afford to wait another day: Will you sign my petition to abolish the filibuster so that Senate Democrats can pass our bill and protect our communities from gun violence?

I am counting on 10,000 Democrats to join me in calling on the Senate to abolish the filibuster – because ending the filibuster is the ONLY way we can pass meaningful gun safety reform legislation and protect our children and curb the epidemic of gun violence in America.
