To put it simply, I’m heartbroken for the families that tragically lost loved ones in Uvalde, Texas. This is yet another community that has had to endure such a horrible event. Gun violence is far too prevalent in our country, and that’s why I’m supporting legislation that would help put an end to these tragedies.
Months ago, the Democratic House passed legislation for background checks and to close loopholes that allow guns to fall into dangerous hands. Now, it’s up to the Senate to pass them.
Let me be clear: It’s a disgrace that our colleagues on the other side of the aisle kowtow to the gun lobby while communities across the country endure the devastation of gun violence. Many of them are going to an NRA conference in Houston tomorrow, just days after this tragedy. My own opponent has remained silent on the issue and has accepted money from the NRA.
