Friend,
Today the Senate had the chance to begin debate on a bill to help combat a
serious cause of gun violence: Domestic terrorism and white supremacy. But
Senate Republicans filibustered it.
I have to ask: Is it really so difficult to vote for simple measures that would
make mass shootings less likely?
A vast majority of Americans want common sense reforms to curb gun violence. If
you are one of the millions of Americans who are outraged, heartbroken, and sick
and tired of the GOP putting our children on the front lines at the behest of
their gun lobby donors, take a stand with me. Sign your name next to mine if you agree the Republicans must join us in putting a stop to gun violence. [link removed] SIGN ON [link removed]
America's gun epidemic is unmatched by any other nation in the world. The
leading cause of death for children in the U.S. is not accidents or illness --
it's guns.
It's sickening -- and the American people are tired of it. A vast majority of
Americans, regardless of political party, support sensible gun legislation to
keep guns out of dangerous hands. They're crying out for us to take action.
In the Senate, we will vote on sensible gun legislation. We're pleading with the
Republicans to finally say that enough is enough and join us in doing anything
we can to stop the violence. We know this will not be easy, but doing nothing is
not an option.
I'm imploring Senate Republicans to come to the table and work with us to craft legislation to stop these massacres. If you agree we need action, sign your name. [link removed] SIGN ON [link removed]
Sincerely,
Chuck Schumer
