Hi John, Growing up is never easy. But for millions of kids around the world, childhood is eclipsed by adult problems: violence, poverty, hunger and war. So this month, over 5,000 Save the Children Action Network supporters made it their mission to show Congress that children’s mental health matters. Together, we held 15 meetings with members of Congress, hosted 45 events and sent over 15,000 messages urging lawmakers to pass the MINDS Act!
Volunteers wrote and hand-delivered postcards to their states’ legislators.
Advocates in Illinois tabled at the Worldwide Day of Play event to raise awareness about the MINDS Act and collect signatures for a petition to Congress. Student activists used their voices to speak up on behalf of kids in crisis. Mia, a high-schooler from New Hampshire, shared her experience with anxiety to show parents how crucial mental health services are. John, you stepped up for children living through unimaginable challenges around the world. But as always there’s more we need to do to help kids thrive – especially here at home. The Maternal, Infant and Early Childhood Home Visiting (MIECHV) program provides life-changing health and early learning resources for children across the U.S. – including mental health services. But it’s set to expire in September. Will you tell Congress to reauthorize MIECHV and increase funding to support our nation’s most vulnerable families? Thank you for being a voice for kids,
