Fair Fight is working to ensure free and fair elections for all.

Team,

On Tuesday, we were keeping a close eye on the Georgia primary results as the nominees for the general election were chosen.

Fair Fight-endorsed candidates Stacey Abrams and Senator Raphael Warnock advanced to their general elections, and Bee Nguyen advanced to a runoff to secure the Democratic nomination for Georgia's secretary of state.

But we also, along with everyone else in the country, closely watched news reports come in regarding the horrifying elementary school massacre in Uvalde, Texas. Words fail to communicate the deep pain, anger, and devastation that we’re feeling in the aftermath.

This happening just ten days after another unspeakable act of violence at a supermarket in Buffalo, New York has been too much to sit with.

When faced with the question, “What can be done?”, a clear answer is for our elected leaders to act. After all, the vast majority of Americans support stronger gun laws.

But we don’t see that overwhelming amount of support reflected by our current elected officials. Here’s a reason: extremist anti-voter politicians keep trying to pass restrictive and burdensome laws to try to make it harder for us to elect leaders who reflect our values.

The same extremist politicians who bend the knee to the gun lobby instead of listening to voters are the ones who deny election outcomes and attack voting rights in order to keep their power.

At Fair Fight, we’ll continue working to ensure free and fair elections for all — so the vast majority of Americans who support gun safety laws can freely elect leaders who will take action on gun violence, and ensure our freedom to vote.

Thank you for being a part of this work.
