Just this morning, the Jefferson County Clerk recanvassed the Republican primary in our race and made the results official.

But the truth is, it doesn’t matter which Republican won the nomination. National Republicans are targeting KY-03 in their attempt to flip the House, obstruct the Democratic agenda, and push extreme, right-wing policies that will harm Kentuckians.

I’m going to let you in on a secret, team: If KY-03 were to flip, Kevin McCarthy and all of the most extreme Republicans would be in charge of Congress. If we can’t hold this seat, then Louisville’s Congressman will be just another rubber stamp for the MAGA agenda, and an obstructionist trying to hold hostage all the progress that’s possible.

That means the House will try to fund Trump’s racist, wasteful border wall, pass giant tax giveaways to the wealthiest Americans and big corporations, and refuse to do anything to address the epidemic of gun violence.

That's why I need your help: We’re in this race to expand access to quality, affordable health care, reform our criminal justice system, protect reproductive rights, and expand voting rights. If we put Kevin McCarthy in charge of the House, all of that is completely off the table.

This is shaping up to be one of the toughest midterm years for Democrats in recent history. The working families of Louisville deserve better than a Republican who will turn Congress over to the party of Trump.
