The world is heavy right now. In just the past 10 days, a racially-motivated shooting in Buffalo left 10 Black residents dead, and this week’s horrific violence in Uvalde, TX took the lives of 19 children and 2 teachers.
Lives cut short with dreams unfulfilled, elders out shopping for groceries, babies who should be tucked under the covers with a kiss on the forehead who are never coming home.
These are preventable tragedies. With more than 200 mass shootings in the first five months of this year — including 27 school shootings — we’re living in an epidemic of gun violence.
Gun violence threatens all of our communities, but Republicans in Congress continue to stand in the way of meaningful Federal gun control legislation. The filibuster must be eliminated in order to pass common sense gun reform and save lives.
In the meantime, we mourn together with the residents of Buffalo, Uvalde, and communities across the country. Part of community is being there for one another in difficult times — to offer grace, compassion, and support. In the spirit of community and supporting one another, will you consider making a contribution to provide mutual aid to the communities in Uvalde and Buffalo?

The trauma of these layered crises is wearing on all of us. We are in the midst of a great undoing, burdened by life stressors, broken systems, violence, hate, loss, and grief. Please extend grace to yourself and others.
In solidarity,
