Hey John,
I just got an update from my finance team on how we're doing in meeting our goals and closing the gap on our end-of-month fundraising goal. We are making progress, but we still need to raise more to stay on track.
But this is not just another fundraising email. I want to let you know why the elections this year are so important.
In 2012, when I first began to represent Washington's First Congressional District, it was because I knew what ordinary working families were going through. People were struggling, and working families needed someone who sees their struggles.
I knew that victory was about our community. I was going to Congress to fight tooth and nail for folks in my district struggling to make ends meet and provide for their families. This fight was personal because I experienced those same struggles growing up. As a child, I saw my parents work hard to provide for us, and times were tough.
Though I eventually earned a quality education and was successful in my career in the tech sector, I never forgot where I came from or my family's struggles to get me there. Community service and helping others have always been central to my story, and it's that calling to help folks in my community that brought me to Congress.
I have prioritized securing federal resources to address the COVID-19 pandemic, strengthen our public health response in Washington, and provide relief to families, workers, and small businesses. I have introduced legislation to make college more affordable, address climate change, protect farmers, expand public land protections, and strengthen Social Security.
My work in Congress has always been focused on making life better for Americans in Washington and across the country. From championing the expanded Child Tax Credit and providing support for millions of working families to fighting to expand affordable housing production by strengthening the low-income housing tax credit, my focus from day one has been to make sure every American has the opportunity to succeed.
But despite what we've achieved, there is still much more that needs to be done – we still need to pass legislation that strengthens our voting rights. We must codify Roe before our right to decide on our own health care is taken away, and we must pass policies that address the dangers of climate change.
My work in Congress is not done yet, and your grassroots support and donations are needed to help us continue this fight. Here is a link directly from me that you can use today to chip in to our campaign: [link removed] [[link removed]]
