How to Vote in the California Primary Election!

Early Voting is underway for the California Primary Election and the last day of voting (June 7) is just 12 days away! This is a landmark year for voting, as permanent, universal mail-in voting was passed by Governor Newsom last fall. We are so excited to elect an unprecedented group of climate champions to the Senate, Assembly, and Congress with you. Read our breakdown of everything you need to know to vote by this June 7:

Checking in on our Priority Bills in the State Legislature

EnviroVoters has a long list of bills we are supporting in the California State Legislature that would move the needle in the climate fight — from holding the largest corporate polluters accountable for their actions to ensuring that disadvantaged communities receive at least 40% of federal climate and infrastructure funding. Check out what our top six priority bills are, where they are in the Legislature, and how you can help make sure they become law.

Let’s Put Our Wealth to Work on Climate Investments

Given that California has a historic budget surplus of over $97 billion, now is the time to make a down payment on our future and double down on our climate investment. Governor Newsom’s budget proposals are historic but insufficient to meet our biggest challenge: making California fossil fuel free in a way that is economically and racially just. We need to invest 5% of the state budget on climate. Watch our video to learn more about what a Climate Courage Budget entails.

Getting Out the Vote for Clean Water!

We believe everyone is entitled to safe, accessible water. Unfortunately, in the Central Valley of California, there are communities that do not have access to clean water, because Big Oil, Big Gas, and Big Agriculture are overpumping and contaminating water, and there’s little local or state accountability. So we’ve launched a campaign to #ReclaimOur Water to build community power for water equity in the Central Valley. Join one of our upcoming virtual text banks to make sure Central Valley voters are voting for clean water in the Primary Election →

Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions

Cars are the largest source of greenhouse gas emissions. Currently, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) is considering the Advanced Clean Cars II Rule, which represents a significant opportunity to move the needle in the deepening climate crisis. Watch our video to learn more about this critical policy, why the proposal doesn't go far enough, and how we are going to strengthen it.

Donor Spotlight: Noel Perry

Nearly 20 years ago, Noel Perry founded Next 10, a San Francisco think tank that commissions expert research on key issues in California. “I want to see the planet preserved and to help however I can as an individual, through my organization Next 10, and other work, to safeguard the planet with all of its gifts for my children, my grandchildren, and my great-grandchildren,” he said.
