Hey John,

Like many of you, I have not stopped thinking about the news that nineteen children and two teachers were massacred and law enforcement and students injured in Texas since we first saw the horrible scenes.

It is the most deadly school shooting in the last decade — and it comes ten days after Buffalo, nearly ten years after Sandy Hook, and after countless words from countless people who refused to heed the call to act.

Their families are in my prayers as they process unimaginable grief. But that’s not enough — our outrage must lead to action.

Our kids deserve leaders with the courage to stand up and make a damn change.

Right now, every leader needs to say what they’re for — and how they’re going to make our schools safe.

We’re going to put a mental health counselor in every school, and give every student access to telemedicine mental health support. We’re going to close the ghost gun loophole and enact universal background checks. We’re going to finally pass red flag laws in Pennsylvania — because I refuse to accept a reality where our children have to fear for their lives in the classroom.

We have a moral obligation to act. I’m committing to you, to my family, and to Pennsylvanians that I will.
