Yesterday’s news is any dad's worst nightmare, and I'm heartbroken for the families experiencing it in Uvalde. The mass murder of little kids in school is not normal, and it cannot be normalized.
Thoughts and prayers are not enough. I’m tired of hearing excuse after excuse from career politicians while parents and children live in fear.
We need urgent action.
As counsel on the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee following the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School, I worked on a package of common-sense proposals, supported by the vast majority of Americans, to keep dangerous weapons out of the hands of those who would use them to do harm.
We can’t wait any longer for Congress to pass legislation to curb this senseless violence and prevent the next tragedy.
This tragic and unacceptable situation shouldn’t still be happening in America.
Monica and I are praying for the Uvalde community.
