Another day.
Another mass shooting.
Another tweet about “thoughts & prayers” and another day of hollow promises and petty finger-pointing from Congress.
I’m sick of it. I’m sickened by the headlines and the brutal reality of life in America – and only America.
Let’s be clear: This doesn’t happen anywhere else. And until we elect common-sense leaders with the courage to actually do something about it, it’s going to keep happening.
To those who say “This tragedy was unthinkable”:
Wake up! There have been 27 school shootings this year alone. And if nothing changes – there will be more. It’s disgusting, stomach-turning, infuriating – but it is not unimaginable. It demands our immediate action, mobilization, and a communal push for reform or else we’ll be reading the same headlines again.
To those who say “It’s a mental health issue”:
Well, why don’t we elect people who are trying to fix our healthcare system so it doesn’t leave behind the people who need help the most? Let’s get rid of people like Lauren Boebert who are bought and paid for by Big Pharma companies who are screwing up the entire system.
To those who say “It’s not the time to talk politics” :
It may not be the time to talk, but this is exactly the time to act. They said the same thing last week after a mass-shooter, motivated by racist conspiracies, targeted minorities in Buffalo, New York. Conspiracies, by the way, which Lauren Boebert herself has promoted as a Congresswoman. If we waited for a week without gun violence to do something, we’d be waiting forever.
And I’m done waiting.
No more thoughts and prayers. It’s time to get rid of politicians who are too afraid to do anything about this epidemic in our country.
From the beginning, my campaign has been telling Colorado to wake up. Wake up to the lies that Lauren Boebert is feeding us, the broken healthcare system she protects, and the problems she refuses to address.
I hope you’re awake.
And I hope you’ll fight with me for reform.
