John, I wanted to send you a note about the horrible and heartbreaking news out of Uvalde, Texas.

My heart breaks for the kids, their teachers, and their families. They deserve more than our outrage, our thoughts, our prayers – they deserve action.

Let me be clear: If you want absolutely nothing to change with our gun laws, I'm probably not your candidate.

I've carried guns in uniform in dangerous places and know as well as anybody we need some common-sense reforms. Guns like the weapons of war and the large-capacity magazines that my buddies and I carried in Iraq do not belong on our streets. The vast majority of Americans support something as straightforward as requiring a background check for every gun sale, yet cowardly politicians beholden to the NRA refuse to act. Our representatives should be working every single day to pass these basic reforms through Congress.

If elected, I will do the work to protect our communities with common-sense gun laws to keep us and our kids safe, and to prevent tragedies like Sandy Hook, Parkland, and Uvalde from ever happening again. My opponent will not. He’ll do nothing.

Well, doing nothing is not an option. It’s long past time to put action behind thoughts and prayers.

Be well and stay safe,

Chris Deluzio
