Shooting At Texas Elementary School Leaves 19 Students And 2 Teachers Dead
[[link removed]]
It’s a heavy day. It’s the second anniversary of George Floyd’s death at the
hands of Derek Chauvin; it’s the day after yet another horrific school shooting,
which came hard on the heels of a racist massacre at a Buffalo grocery store.
All this against the backdrop of a million Americans
[[link removed]]
dead from COVID-19.

Nineteen elementary school children are dead, so horrifically that their parents
reportedly had to line up to give DNA samples
[[link removed]]
for the identification of their bodies. A recent study
[[link removed]]
found that guns are now the leading cause of death in children. An entire
generation has spent their childhoods practicing active shooter drills
reminiscent of the traumatizing “duck and cover”
[[link removed]]
nuclear drills of the 1950s, and this just keeps happening. Meanwhile, all
politicians can do is tell us to vote
[[link removed]].
How about they do something for once?

In the meantime: here’s how you can help victims of the Uvalde school shooting.

Let's Stop Debating And DO Something
[[link removed]]
It is deeply depressing how relevant this 2018 Scary Mommy piece remains: “The
ever-growing body of research
[[link removed]]
consistently reaches the same conclusion. The only variable that can explain the
high rate of mass shootings in America is its astronomical number of guns,”
wrote Michelle Maidenberg. “Enough debating and squabbling, let’s start taking
direct action to provide safety and security for our children”
