John,

Yesterday, our country experienced another senseless tragedy; a school shooting that killed 18 children. This month has already plagued by a series of mass murders. I cannot begin to explain the pain my heart feels for the victims and their families.

This hateful, disgusting violence is tearing apart the fabric of American families. There is absolutely no political motivation or personal vindication that can possibly begin to explain why someone would do something so foul and evil. Truly, it comes from a cold, cold heart.

America is the only country where this happens. Our country is great, but our country is flawed. School shootings have become a trend over the last two decades, and they seem to just be increasing in frequency and lethality.

Something must be done. We need to implement serious common sense gun control, and we need to do it now. We need to increase access to mental health services. We need to tackle the sources of hatred and create a culture where people don’t ever, ever commit such atrocities.

I, too, am a survivor of a mass shooting in high school in 1992, and yet I don't want to see all guns banned. I do not want to come for what millions of Americans see as their fundamental freedom. I just want kids to be safe. What America needs is swift, powerful common sense gun legislation. Mental health checks, waiting times, gun part legislation, and the like. Without it, this wave of shootings will just continue and worsen.

When elected, I guarantee I will do everything in my power to push for proper gun legislation across the nation. We have a wound in this country, let’s do what we can to fix it. Can you help me represent the needs of all American parents and children?
