How many times can Republicans type the words “thoughts and prayers” before they grasp the damage they’re doing to the people of this country?

Nearly every single one of my Republican colleagues knows damn well that we have too many guns and too few safety measures.

They know average people should not have access to military-grade assault rifles.

And they know that they have the power to stop these unending mass shootings.

They can send thoughts and prayers or they can act.

They can preserve the filibuster or they can act.

They can prioritize bipartisanship or they can act.

What Republicans do this week will tell you whether they give a damn about kids getting shot at school.

The problem is, Republicans have created a cash-for-blood system in which they trade NRA donations for our children’s lives – where weapons manufacturers hold greater sway in our politics than hundreds of millions of voters.

The GOP has been infected by this dirty money for years, and now every American family is feeling the side effects.

I encourage all of you to make a contribution to this fund for the victims of yesterday’s tragedy in Texas. And then I hope you’ll join me in destroying this GOP cash-for-blood system for good.
