The tragic shooting at Robb Elementary is yet another reminder that we do not have to live like this.
John,
As a mom of three school aged kids, everytime I hear about a school shooting my heart sinks. I can’t imagine what these families in Uvalde, Texas are going through.
Hearing the news that there’s been a shooting—in a school, a grocery store, or in a church like we experienced right here in Orange County just last week—should not, and does not, need to be normal.
Congress has the power to reduce gun violence and make our communities safer. I’m tired of Republicans siding with the gun lobby and offering “thoughts and prayers” while students are killed, families live in fear, and the majority of Americans support common sense gun laws. What does it mean to be the land of the free if children can’t safely go to school?
The House has passed bills that would enhance background checks on firearms, but the legislation remains stalled in the Senate. I’ll continue doing everything I can to hold the gun lobby accountable and pass legislation to stop this horrific violence.
