Two State Board of Education Members
Endorse Faith Gibson Hubbard

Neighbors and Friends,

I am really honored to have the endorsement of two members of our State Board of Education with whom I have worked closely in my various roles over the years. We have a shared passion around providing our children quality public education opportunities, from birth throughout life, to develop into critical thinkers, problem-solvers and joyful contributors to our communities.

I appreciate that they have been able to see my passion for and commitment to our community.

Please take a moment to read why they are endorsing me to represent Ward 5 on the DC Council.

Thank you, Jacque and Jessica, for your belief in me and for your active support.

In partnership,

Faith Gibson Hubbard

I have known Faith Gibson Hubbard for more than a decade. We have frequently worked together on shared goals related to students and families navigating public education in DC.

As the Chief Student Advocate, Faith talked with students and learned their concerns about getting safely to and from school. She traveled with them, in frigid winter temperatures, from East of the River to their Ward 5 school, to understand first hand their hardships and their commitment to getting a safe, quality education. After that experience, Faith became a driving force behind the development and passage of the Safe Passage legislation, and getting it funded. Last winter, Mayor Bowser expanded the program with an additional $4.3 million dollars to create safe routes for students in targeted areas.

While I was serving as the Chief Community Engagement Officer at KIPP DC, one of our students was murdered. Faith was the first person to contact me, asking how the school community was doing and how she could help. She was serving as the Director of Community Affairs and she brought violence interrupters and other resources to the school. She focused on not only supporting our community’s healing process, but also working on solutions to prevent and decrease youth violence.

I have been engaged with DC politics and government in various capacities for the past 20 years. I can say that Faith is one of those rare people who truly walks the walk. She is a public servant, not a politician. She gets results because her family is rooted in the Ward 5 community and she cares deeply about the progress of our city. Faith Gibson Hubbard is by far the best choice for the Ward 5 Council seat.

I urge Ward 5 residents to vote for her in the Democratic Primary, and residents like me from other wards, to support her by donating or volunteering - all the way to election day on June 21st.

- Dr. Jacque Patterson

I first met Faith when she served as President of the Ward Five Council on Education and was advocating hard for the children of Ward 5 to have access to quality schools from PK through high school. We've since worked together during her time as the Chief Student Advocate for Education and the Interim Ombudsman for Education and my work as a consultant and State Board of Education member. Through each of her roles, Faith has always kept the needs of children and families at the center of her work. I know she will bring that same energy and focus to the Council, for the children and families of Ward 5 and all across the District.

Vote Faith Gibson Hubbard for Ward 5 DC Council!
