Hi friend,

It's happening.

Our campaign to make financial giant BlackRock cancel Zambia’s debts is starting to get their attention. Thousands of us have written to BlackRock, taken our campaign to their doorstep and got our message into the media.

Negotiations with BlackRock and Zambia are on-going, and we have learned that the UK government is also participating. Will you write to your MP today to help #CancelTheDebt?

Yes, I will write to my MP

Zambia is the first to go through a new international process to help restructure debt. But they are being blocked. Zambia’s biggest bondholder, the financial giant BlackRock, is refusing to cancel or suspend any debts.

MPs have the power to hold Blackrock to account, questions are being asked in parliament about why the financial giant won’t cancel Zambia’s debts. But we need hundreds more MPs to support the campaign and build political pressure on BlackRock.

Will you write to your MP to ask them to support our campaign?

Take action: write to your MP

If Zambia fails to get debt cancellation through this process, then other countries are less likely to apply and debts will continue to pile up globally.

More and more countries will be forced to cut vital public services like healthcare and education to pay large amounts of interest to rich lenders.

By taking action together, we can make a difference.

In solidarity,
Eva, Zak, Heidi and all the team at Debt Justice.
